PMO: The United Kingdom removed from Travel Green List

The COVID-19 Steering Committee has removed the United Kingdom from Brunei’s Travel Green List for non-essential travel due to the surge of the more contagious Omicron variant globally.

This revised guideline on exit and entry travel during the Early Endemic Phase was announced by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah at the recent daily COVID-19 press conference.

“This updated Travel Green List category constitutes a crucial step in ensuring that the welfare, well-being and stability of the citizens and residents of Brunei continue to be safeguarded by way of controlling the risk of COVID-19 infections,” said the minister.

He added: “Those who have made plans to exit or enter the country for non-essential travel to the United Kingdom are advised to put their respective travel plans on hold.”

Previously, the PMO announced that by 1st January 2022, citizens and residents of Brunei as well as foreign nationals who have completed their vaccinations are allowed to exit the country for non-essential travels by air to four countries on the green list.

With the UK excluded, travels are permitted to Australia, China and Singapore.

The aforementioned requirements for consideration of exit and entry travel will depend on observations made by the COVID-19 Steering Committee from time to time.
