Testing all-new Nissan Terra’s power, off-track capabilities

Boustead, the sole distributor of Nissan, recently hosted the Off-Road Track test-drive for media representatives and enthusiasts to test the powerful capabilities of the all-new Nissan Terra during its exclusive launch at the Jerudong Park Amphitheater.

To further test out the capabilities of its technology, The Bruneian had the opportunity to test out the Nissan Terra through five exciting challenges: Log Crawling Test, Wheel Articulating Test, Chassis Rigidity Test, Suspensions Bump Absorption Test and Around View Monitor Challenge.

Behind the wheel is where the Nissan Terra demonstrated its true potential and prowess. We started off with the ‘Log Crawling’, ‘Wheel Articulating Test’ and ‘Chassis Rigidity Test’ sessions. It was during this session where the Nissan Terra proved its off-road capabilities.

The Terra is equipped with Bridgestone Dueler tyres giving the 7-seater a stronger and firmer grip. Moreover, the tyres are designed to provide optimal grip and high performance in both on and off-road conditions in any terrain.

The seven-seater has a four-wheel-drive system with a Brake Limited Slip Differential and an Electronic Locking Rear Differential.

Confidently carving through the undulating obstacles, the seven-seater can comfortably get you through any terrain. Its suspension allows the Terra to cruise effortlessly across the ups and downs of the course.

However, where it stood out in terms of handling was how it effortlessly absorbed tighter and quicker corners, owing to its brake limited-slip rear differential, which distributes power to maintain traction and grip.

The Nissan Terra’s ladder-frame chassis and multi-link coil spring rear suspension system also plays a huge part in the magic.

Another highlight was how the good steering felt during the session. Its light steering and good feedback were easy to maneuver. In every twist and turn, it is simply fun to drive. It pulls hard and quick, the suspension is extremely tight and the steering is actually quite responsive.

In addition to that, the Terra delivers plenty of low-end torque to keep it going.

The next activity was the Around View Monitor Challenge, where our instructor demonstrated the use of the 360-degree camera and navigated around the cones which were laid out very tightly to further exhibit the handling capabilities with just looking through the screen.

The Around View Monitor, a monitor that provides a virtual 360-degree scene of the car in bird’s-eye view. It assists the drivers by giving real-time information about the vehicle’s surrounding area which makes parking much easier and safer specifically in tight parking spaces

During the whole obstacle course, what’s impressive was the Nissan Terra’s comfort, which was felt by both driver and passengers. We also found the cabin to be very quiet in all situations.

There was never a moment when we felt short for power tackling the obstacle courses.

The event aims to create awareness particularly in vehicle performance, comfort and safety driving with the advance of NIM (Nissan Intelligent Mobility) features and technologies that Nissan has to offer

Through this, The Terra features a wide range of advanced technologies for a safer and more confident drive.

Overall, the all-new Nissan Terra is the perfect blend of technology, top-in-class engine performance and off-road performance allowing drivers to take on any challenge with confidence
