The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brunei Darussalam recently celebrated the 46th anniversary of Iran’s National Day at the Songket Ballroom of the Rizqun International Hotel.
In his welcoming remarks, Iranian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Mohammad Taghi Rajabi stated that 46 years ago, Iran experienced the biggest revolution of the 20th century, allowing its people to overcome both foreign interference and domestic despotism.

He also highlighted that the revolution was driven by deeply rooted grievances against a repressive system that disregarded human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as against a form of pseudo-colonialism that exerted control over governance and public life.
In his speech, the Ambassador also highlighted key milestones in the bilateral ties between Brunei and Iran, which were established in 1990. This year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“Over the past three decades, both countries have enjoyed close cooperation and cordial traditional ties on the basis of mutual respect and understanding,” he said
“There have been eight Joint Technical Committee meetings held between the two countries with the next one expected soon this year,” he added.

He further emphasised that Iran attaches great importance to its relationship with the Sultanate and is committed to strengthening its bilateral ties across all sectors, with a particular focus on economy, trade, investment, culture, and tourism.

Iranian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam stated that the primary goals of Iran’s foreign policy are to safeguard national interests, safeguard national security, and expand economic diplomacy.
He added, “Our vision is to establish balanced political, economic, and cultural relations. Iran continues to advocate and work for peace and stability in the region through a principled and responsible approach based on dialogue and cooperation.”

The ceremony began with the national anthems of the both countries of Brunei Darussalam and Iran, followed by the recitation of Al-Quran and Doa Selamat.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, guests also had the opportunity to explore the exhibition showcasing Iranian art, handicrafts, and exquisite hand-woven carpets.

Present as the guest of honour were Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin and spouse.
