UNN expands Pentest as a Service (PtaaS) portfolio with PtaaS (API) launch

Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) has launched the Pentest as a Service (API), an addition to its Pentest as a Service (PtaaS) service offerings. This new service is designed to assess and enhance the security of back-end web services that facilitate communication between systems and applications.

In today’s interconnected digital environment, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) play a critical role in enabling integration between platforms, systems, and applications.

However, APIs are also increasingly becoming a target for cyber threats. Recognising the importance of securing these critical assets, UNN introduced PtaaS (API) to help organisations in Brunei safeguard their back-end services and mitigate vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious actors.

PtaaS (API) provides organisations with a thorough evaluation of their API architecture, identifying potential weaknesses and delivering actionable insights to improve overall security. The introduction of PtaaS (API) complements UNN’s existing cybersecurity portfolio, which includes:

– PtaaS (Network): Evaluation of internal and external network assets to strengthen
cybersecurity defences.
– PtaaS (Application): Assessment of Web, Android, and iOS mobile applications to
enhance security and protect customer data.

With the addition of PtaaS (API), UNN now offers a well-rounded suite of penetration testing services that address key cybersecurity challenges across critical digital assets.

In a statement, UNN Acting Chief Executive Officer Chris Phan said that APIs are the backbone of digital service providers, enabling seamless connectivity, data exchange, and automation across applications and systems.

“They facilitate everything from online transactions to cloud integrations, making them indispensable in today’s interconnected world. However, as APIs become more prevalent, they also present significant security challenges, exposing organisations to cyber threats and data breaches,” he said.

He added that PtaaS API provides a proactive security solution by continuously identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating risks and ensuring compliance.

“By integrating PtaaS API, industries can strengthen their cybersecurity posture, safeguard sensitive data, and maintain operational resilience in an evolving digital landscape,” he said.
