Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has relaunched its BIBD Connects at Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas (TMJE) on Friday, unveiling a renewed and vibrant community space designed to bring people together.
Officiated by Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of BIBD Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin Haji Abdul Rahman, the reopening marks a significant step in BIBD’s commitment to fostering community engagement and supporting local businesses.

The refreshed BIBD Connects now features increased seating and air-conditioned areas, providing a welcoming environment for families and friends to gather and enjoy their time together.
As part of BIBD’s commitment to supporting local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the facility also offers expanded vendor spaces, empowering entrepreneurs with greater opportunities to grow their businesses.
Adding a touch of cultural vibrancy, the venue is adorned with two captivating murals by local artists, Syazwi Shamri and Guerrilla Architects. Syazwi Shamri, a local digital and traditional artist renowned for his murals, landscapes, and urban sketches, brings his signature style to the space, celebrating the beauty of Brunei’s cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, Guerrilla Architects, pioneers of the local graffiti art scene known for their large-scale murals, infuse a fun and contemporary twist to traditional icons, creating an inspiring backdrop for the community.

In the spirit of Ramadhan as a time of togetherness and community, BIBD Connects is envisioned as a hub where the community can gather, socialise, and create cherished memories.
The renewed space is a testament to BIBD’s ongoing commitment to being Bruneian at Heart, fostering an inclusive environment that resonates with the community’s values.
Ramadhan Eco Bazaar
In conjunction with the relaunched BIBD Connects facility, BIBD also launched the Ramadhan Eco Bazaar, continuing its mission to support local businesses and promote sustainability. Building on the success of last year’s bazaar, this year’s edition showcases a variety of offerings from almost 50 local MSMEs, empowering them with a
platform to grow and thrive.

The bazaar promotes cashless transactions, reflecting BIBD’s vision of a digital economy and supporting financial inclusion by introducing customers and merchants to accessible
digital payment tools.
By encouraging the use of digital payments, BIBD is making transactions more convenient and secure for both vendors and customers.

In line with BIBD’s sustainability goals, the Ramadhan Eco Bazaar includes a campaign to raise awareness of eco-friendly practices. The public are encouraged to bring their reusables and tiffin carriers to support the initiative’s sustainable approach.

Vendors are encouraged to reduce waste, use sustainable packaging, and offer environmentally-conscious products, reinforcing BIBD’s commitment to responsible business practices.
The BIBD Ramadhan Eco Bazaar will run from 28 February to 23 March 2025, operating daily from 3.00 pm to 12.00 am at BIBD Connects, Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Through this initiative, BIBD continues to demonstrate its role as a key driver in fostering economic growth and sustainability within Brunei Darussalam, while celebrating the essence of community and togetherness during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Also in attendance were Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Board Members, Shariah Advisory Board Members, Senior Government Officials as well as management and staff of BIBD.
