Mavensdotlive hosts first Spirit of Math Awards ceremony in Brunei

Mavensdotlive recently hosted its first Spirit of Math Awards ceremony, celebrating the achievements of 13 students from Brunei who participated in the 26th Annual International Spirit of Math Contest.

This was the first time Spirit of Math had come to Brunei, following a new collaboration between two visionary leaders and educators: Goh Chai Li from Brunei and Kimberley Langen from Canada.

Kimberley Langen founded the Spirit of Math programme in 1995. What began in the basement of her home with just 35 students has now grown into a global initiative that impacts students worldwide. Spirit of Math is known for its unique approach to fostering problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and excellence in mathematics.

During the ceremony, students were recognised for their dedication and hard work. Two key awards were presented, namely, the Certificate of Honour, recognising students for their commitment to learning and consistent effort throughout the programme and the Medal for Best in Brunei, awarded to students who achieved 90 per cent and above.

This year, the medal was awarded to Raymond Bin Selim @ Lim Ming Ter, in recognition of his outstanding performance.

Additionally, Serafina Sea Chien Xing was awarded a Pin of Appreciation for achieving an 80 per cent score, highlighting Mavensdotlive’s commitment to acknowledging progress, dedication and growth.

This collaboration between Mavensdotlive and Spirit of Math aligns with the shared vision of empowering young minds and creating new possibilities for youth. By offering programs like Spirit of Math, Mavensdotlive continues to help students reach their full potential and prepare them for future success.
