It was a sweet gathering at the first-ever Cake Picnic Brunei (CPB) held recently at Jerudong Park Colonnade, drawing a crowd of 109 participants.
The highly anticipated community event brought together bakers, cake lovers and creatives from across the country in a vibrant, pastel-themed celebration of joy and connection, and of course, cake!
Organised by the Big BWN Project with local cakepreneurs Hafi Kay Midnight Baker and Nona Manis, the event followed the international concept of Cake Picnic, where each participant brought a whole cake to share.

In true picnic fashion, attendees enjoyed laid-back vibes, good company and picture-perfect setups against the lush backdrop of Jerudong Park’s grounds.
The picnic featured a structured cake-sharing rotation, exclusive CPB merchandise, and a ‘Prettiest Cake’ competition that crowned three winners for their creativity and presentation.
Adding to the festive atmosphere was the simultaneous ‘Coffee & Bakes’ event hosted by Jerudong Park, where visitors explored local vendor booths and family-friendly activities. While the public joined the fun outside the picnic grounds, entry to the fenced-off cake area remained exclusive to registered participants with official CPB wristbands.

More than just an Instagram-worthy experience, Cake Picnic Brunei embodied the spirit of Wawasan 2035 by empowering local entrepreneurs, fostering community pride, and promoting inclusive public gatherings with heart.
“We’re so grateful for the overwhelming response and all the love from the community,” said the organising team. “This was a non-profit event created to spark joy, support local bakers and bring people together, and we’re so proud of what Brunei created.”
The picnic awarded three winners in the ‘Prettiest Cake’ competition, with Rosalita Mamacang of RV Sweet Treats claiming first prize.

The home-based baker’s ‘Flower Basket’ cake won over the judges with its beautiful fondant floral motifs adorning the outer layer.
“The design was my daughter’s idea, and it took me six hours to complete the decoration. I chose yam as the cake flavour.. it’s a classic that never fails,” said Rosalita, who began baking in 2017.
“I’m so honoured and happy to win this prize… my hard work paid off and people believe in my talent,” she added.
The event was supported by media partners The Bruneian, Brunei Events, and Mixel; official décor partner The Play Space; refreshments by Ximply Chris, Air Rainwater, Good Mood, The Potato Cup, and HWC Brunei; as well as sponsors Koicha, Sin That Enterprise, Saadedin Pastry, Almanharis Corp, Little Ingredients Store, Zee Beauty Store, Muffins Paradise, Table Scape, and The Cake Story.
