His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam, will hold a state visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 26 August 2025
and attend the 26th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia
that will be held on 27 August 2025.
During the visit, His Majesty will have an audience with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. His Majesty will then meet with Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for the 26th Annual Leaders’ Consultation.
The Annual Consultations between the Heads of Government of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, which have been held since 1997, serve as an important forum for both countries to discuss and examine existing bilateral cooperation, as well as explore potential areas of collaboration.
The consultations are held on a rotating basis, with Brunei Darussalam chairing the 25th Annual Consultation on 26 August 2024.
His Majesty’s last State Visit to Malaysia was on 2 – 4 August 2023 in conjunction with the 24th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1984 and enjoy excellent bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, education, defence, health and people-to-people exchanges. The two countries also work closely at the regional and international levels, through ASEAN, BIMP-EAGA, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN).
