Relentless Entertainment and the Academy of Performing Arts (Relentless) is back with its 13th musical production, Musical Mania 6 – A Celebration of Broadway & West End Musicals, Pop Icons, Local Talent and the Growing Creative and Performing Arts Community.
The highly anticipated showcase will run for three days at the JIS Arts Centre, with performances scheduled for Friday, 19 September at 7.45pm; Saturday, 20 September at 7.45pm; and Sunday, 21 September at 1.30pm and 7.45pm.
Featuring a vibrant cast of over 40 performers – including singers, dancers and actors – Musical Mania 6 promises an electrifying journey through fan-favourite soundtracks. Audiences can expect Disney classics such as Moana, Aladdin and Mulan; Broadway blockbusters like Mean Girls, The Notebook and Wicked; as well as tributes to music legends and pop icons, including Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys and even the high-energy K-Pop Demon Hunters.
At a recent press conference, Managing Partner and founder of Relentless Entertainment, Amy Cheong, shared further insights into this year’s production, which marks the company’s 13th overall. Auditions began a month and a half ago, with the full production details only revealed to the cast two weeks before rehearsals.
Amy also explained that the genre and theme are kept under wraps until the first casting meeting, when the complete song list is unveiled. For the public, the organisers maintained secrecy by teasing subtle hints through posters and social media, keeping audiences guessing until the show’s announcement. This year also introduces several new and talented performers making their debut on the Musical Mania stage.
According to Amy, the first act will highlight Broadway, West End and Disney productions, while the second act will spotlight pop hits infused with theatrical elements. Song selection is a collaborative effort, balancing team suggestions, audience demand, and the desire to feature numbers that have not appeared in past productions.
