Brunei Week Celebrates Successful First Showcase at MakBesar Grand Market in Singapore

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) successfully launched its inaugural Brunei Week at the bustling MakBesar Grand Market at Suntec City Convention Centre, Singapore.

Held from 5 to 7 September 2025, the event gathered some 20 Bruneian-made brands, captivating Singaporean visitors with a diverse range of food, beverage, lifestyle and craft products.

MakBesar Grand Market, billed as a celebration of halal food, fashion, music and culture provided a platform for Bruneian enterprises to reach new audiences.

Visitors flocked to enjoy live entertainment, culinary experiences, and cultural showcases, making the Brunei Pavilion a key attraction within the bustling festival atmosphere.

In his opening remarks, Lim Hang Ping, Deputy Director of Enterprise Development, BEDB, highlighted that Brunei Week was more than just an exhibition: “It is a platform to showcase our homegrown brands, celebrate locally made products, and create opportunities for our entrepreneurs to connect with international customers and partners. Through this event, we aim to foster collaboration, opening new avenues for Brunei’s enterprises to broaden their reach into unexplored markets.”

He added that the 20 exhibitors reflected the passion of Bruneian entrepreneurs and the nation’s ambition to diversify its economy.

Her Excellency Hajah Noor Qamar binti Haji Sulaiman, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Singapore, commended BEDB and the exhibitors for their efforts, describing the event as “a platform for Bruneian entrepreneurs and consumers to the Singapore market, fostering meaningful ties and unlocking new opportunities for international partnership. This showcase also serves as an avenue for strengthening greater awareness of Brunei’s heritage and potential, and as well as enhancing the business-to-business and people-to-people connections that underpin our bilateral relations.”

She also announced an upcoming initiative — the launch of Lim Siang Huat Pte Ltd’s dedicated “Flavours of Brunei” e-commerce platform, which will serve as an online gateway for Singaporeans to conveniently access Bruneian products beyond the event.

Once launched, the platform will showcase a variety of Bruneian products online, enhancing their accessibility to Singaporean consumers and international markets. It is expected to extend the visibility of Bruneian brands, establish a sustainable distribution channel, strengthen market presence, broaden consumer reach, and open new opportunities for Bruneian enterprises to build long-term commercial linkages with Singapore customers.
