Tourism Malaysia launches Malaysia Week 2025 at The Mall Gadong

Tourism Malaysia officially launched Malaysia Week 2025, a two-day tourism showcase held from 18 to 19 October 2025 at The Mall, Gadong. 

The event highlights Malaysia’s vibrant tourism offerings while reaffirming the country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Brunei’s travel industry in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).

Serving as a strategic platform to promote Malaysia’s wide range of tourism experiences, from adventure and culture to wellness and lifestyle, the event invites Bruneians to rediscover Malaysia as a destination rich in heritage, diversity, and authentic local experiences.

A total of eleven exhibitors representing the states of Selangor, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan, alongside travel agents from Brunei Darussalam, are taking part in Malaysia Week 2025. Visitors can enjoy exclusive travel deals, special discounts on airfares, hotel stays, and holiday packages. 

The event also features interactive games, a kids’ colouring corner, and daily lucky draws offering attractive prizes.

The event was jointly officiated by High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines Haji Badarudin Haji Bagol and Director of Tourism Malaysia Brunei Darussalam Hazrina Azman.

In her speech, Director of Tourism Malaysia Brunei Darussalam Hazrina Azman said that Malaysia Week 2025 is a special showcase celebrating the essence of Malaysia as more than just a travel destination, but as a tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and diverse experiences. 

“From outdoor adventures and rejuvenating wellness retreats to pristine islands, vibrant gastronomy, and premium lifestyle offerings, Malaysia truly has something for everyone,” she shared.

“We are delighted to be joined by six exhibitors from Malaysia and five from Brunei, offering exclusive travel packages, 15 hotel promotions, and special discounts throughout this two-day event. We warmly invite everyone to explore, experience, and enjoy Malaysia Week 2025 with us,” she added.

Visitors can also enjoy exciting activities such as a kids’ colouring corner, interactive Kahoot sessions, meet-and-greet with Tourism Malaysia’s mascots Wira and Manja, as well as daily lucky draws.

Hazrina also highlighted Malaysia’s strong tourism recovery, noting that as of August 2025, the country recorded 28.2 million international visitor arrivals, reflecting a 14.5 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

She further added that Brunei continues to be among Malaysia’s top tourism markets in ASEAN, with over one million visitor arrivals recorded between January and August this year.

“As we approach Visit Malaysia Year 2026, Tourism Malaysia reaffirms our commitment to work closely with our travel partners in both Malaysia and Brunei to design meaningful experiences that celebrate Malaysia’s natural beauty, culture, and heritage,” she said.

“Through joint efforts like Malaysia Week, we aim to strengthen industry collaboration, inspire travel enthusiasm, and deepen the friendship between our two nations,” she added.

She further described Malaysia as a land where heritage and modernity coexist in harmony, where ancient rainforests meet cutting-edge infrastructure, and where every journey tells a story. 

“We invite our Bruneian friends to rediscover Malaysia, explore new destinations, and create memories that will last a lifetime,” she added.

Before concluding, Hazrina expressed appreciation to Royal Brunei Airlines for their continued partnership, and to all participating partners including Tourism Selangor, Miri City Council, Club Med, Pullman Hotel & Resort, Rusukan Besar Resort, GM Klang, Paya Bunga Hotel, Palm Beach Resort, Monkeys Canopy Resort, Freme Travel, Straits Central Agencies, Pan Bright Travel, Darussalam Travel Services, and Southern Cross Travel for their invaluable support.

Meanwhile, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Mohd Aini Atan underscored the strong tourism ties between Malaysia and Brunei, describing them as a reflection of the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations. 

“Through this event, we hope to offer our Bruneian friends a glimpse of Malaysia’s vibrant lifestyle, diverse attractions, world-class hospitality, and unmatched connectivity,” he said.

Brunei Darussalam remains one of Malaysia’s priority tourism markets in ASEAN. Between January and August 2025, Malaysia recorded 1,005,423 visitor arrivals from Brunei, underscoring its continued appeal as a preferred travel destination for Bruneian travellers.

As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the country remains committed to expanding high-value tourism segments such as eco and community-based tourism, wellness, education, and MICE travel, all supported by strong infrastructure and authentic local experiences.
