KFC Brunei has added a new item to its menu – the Nasi Katok Colonel. It is a take on the local favourite comfort meal, combining KFC’s signature Colonel Rice, two Crispy Tenders and a special sambal for $2.50 (à la carte).
Served in the traditional nasi katok style, neatly wrapped for takeaway or plated for dine-in, it brings together the comfort of local flavours with KFC’s quality and consistency.
The highlight is KFC’s own sambal, a carefully balanced blend of spice, savoury anchovies and rich flavour, designed to complement the fluffy rice and golden, crispy tenders. For an additional $1, you can enjoy it with a regular carbonated drink.
Speaking at the launch, Head of KFC Brunei Siti Hamizah Hassan said that the new item was developed exclusively by the local team.
“This dish embodies our commitment to honouring familiar Bruneian tastes while expressing them through our unique KFC identity,” she said.
She added: “It’s about creating food that connects people. The Nasi Katok Colonel is how we celebrate home and heritage. You can enjoy it anytime you want; it’s a simple but genuinely filling meal.”
The Nasi Katok Colonel reveal launch was enlivened with traditional music from Bruneian instruments, accompanied by a cultural dance performance.
Furthermore, invited guests had the opportunity to assemble their own version of nasi katok, with entries judged on their choice of components like crispy tenders, sambal, fried anchovies, peanuts, vegetables, nuggets, or a whole chicken piece.
The winning combination stands a chance to be featured on KFC Brunei’s menu in the future.
