PAD Motors, the sole distributor of Proton in Brunei, has officially opened bookings for the All-New Proton X50. The announcement marks a significant milestone for the brand as it introduces its bold new campaign theme, “Roar of Brunei”.
Ahead of the booking opening, Proton Brunei hosted an exclusive preview session for selected media outlets and key influencers at the RegalBlue Production Studio. Guests were given the first opportunity to explore the upgraded model and experience its new features firsthand.
During the event, Proton Brunei Head of Sales, Marketing and Operations Ibnu Sharul bin Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Ismail, highlighted Proton’s continued commitment to innovation, quality and customer-focused improvements.
He expressed appreciation to the Proton Brunei team for their dedication and thanked media partners for their ongoing support in strengthening the brand’s presence in Brunei.
Since its introduction in 2021, the Proton X50 has become one of the country’s most popular compact SUVs with more than 2,000 units sold. For the first time since its original 2020 launch, the model now receives a comprehensive update that enhances its exterior, interior, performance, comfort, safety and technology.
The All-New Proton X50 debuts with a sharper design, a more refined cabin, an upgraded 14.6-inch infotainment system and improved driving comfort powered by the new i-GT 1.5TD engine. These enhancements aim to deliver a more modern and intelligent driving experience for Bruneian customers.
A refreshed design with cultural influence
The new X50 adopts a bolder and more dynamic look that gives the SUV a confident and premium road presence. The front end has been completely redesigned, featuring a new grille and bumper layout inspired by the Sulaiman Songket pattern in tribute to Malaysia’s cultural heritage.
Restyled daytime running lights and slimmer, sleeker headlamps further elevate the SUV’s modern appeal. At the rear, the model stands out with a full LED tail light bar, a redesigned bumper and a larger spoiler on the Flagship variant.
A dual-tone paint scheme is now available across the range. The SUV also rides on new 18-inch textured alloy wheels that enhance its premium look. A new colour, Teal Bayou Green, joins the existing palette of Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey and Armour Silver.
A more luxurious and intelligent interior
Inside, the upgrades are even more pronounced. Premium materials and refined trims give the cabin a more upscale feel. Proton has introduced a new floating floor console paired with luxury-style column shifters, replacing the previous setup.
Soft-touch materials are used more extensively, and the interior is enhanced with rhythmic 72-colour ambient lighting that responds to music and driving behaviour.
Taking centre stage is a 14.6-inch freestanding infotainment touchscreen. It now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, addressing one of the top requests from owners.
A major highlight for is the new voice recognition system in Bahasa Melayu, allowing drivers to control functions such as air-conditioning and windows through natural speech. English voice commands are also supported.
Power and enhanced safety
The All-New X50 is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection engine known as the i-GT 1.5 TD. It produces 133 kW or 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque and is paired with a recalibrated 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission for smoother and more responsive performance.
Safety has been elevated with an upgraded Level 2 ADAS suite. New additions include the Rear Side Radar System for improved blind spot detection and an enhanced Auto Park Assist for greater accuracy.
The SUV also features a new 360-degree HD camera system with a 180-degree undercarriage transparent view that helps drivers navigate tight spaces or check for obstacles beneath the vehicle. This creates a virtual see-through floor by stitching multiple camera feeds together.
The model retains its 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating with six airbags, electronic stability control and traction control as standard.
To celebrate the milestone, Proton Brunei has introduced an Early Bird offer of up to $1,500 in savings for the first 100 customers. Bookings can be made through the official Proton Brunei QR code available on its social media platforms.
