Brunei rolls out national digital ID, registration opens 3 January

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) and the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) have launched Brunei Identiti Digital, known as BruneiID, a national digital identity system to function as an electronic form of personal identification.

At its initial stage of implementation, BruneiID will support identity verification based on Identity Card (IC) details for accessing selected government digital platforms. These initial services include the Public Service Commission Recruitment (PSC) portal, the Business Reporting portal, TransportBN, BruHealth, E-Undi and the Talian Darussalam 123 (TD123) mobile application.

Members of the public can register for BruneiID starting 3 January 2026 by downloading the mobile application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

This initiative reflects the commitment of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to strengthen national digital governance and facilitate public access to secure, convenient and user-friendly government digital services.

The system enables citizens and residents to perform digital identity verification through a single login mechanism supported by biometric authentication.

Developed based on robust security and privacy principles, the biometric authentication is processed locally on the user’s device. All personal data is protected in accordance with government-established security and data protection requirements.

The rollout will continue with other government digital services being integrated in phases. This ensures an orderly implementation aligned with government, security, and data protection requirements, in line with the nation’s public service digital transformation and the national digital economy framework.

Further information, including user guides and channels for providing feedback, is available on the official BruneiID website at www.brunei-id.gov.bn. Members of the public are encouraged to submit feedback to support the continuous improvement of the system.

For further enquiries or assistance, the public may contact Talian Darussalam 123 (TD123).
