Premier Motor Co Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of MG Motor in Brunei Darussalam, has introduced the all-new MG3 Hybrid+, marking the brand’s latest entry into the growing hybrid vehicle segment.
The B-segment hatchback combines advanced hybrid technology with compact practicality, offering a balance of performance, fuel efficiency and modern features aimed at urban drivers.
The MG3 Hybrid+ is powered by a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine paired with a powerful electric motor and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), delivering a smooth and responsive driving experience.
Hybrid performance and power
The hybrid system integrates several key components designed to maximise efficiency and performance.
At its core is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine engineered to achieve a thermal efficiency of up to 41 per cent. This works alongside dual electric motors — a 100kW electric motor responsible for driving the vehicle and a separate 45kW generator.
Energy is stored in a 1.83kWh battery pack, allowing the car to operate in electric-only mode more frequently, particularly in city driving conditions.
Power delivery is managed through a three-speed electrified automatic transmission with a planetary gear setup, designed to provide smooth acceleration and responsive performance.
Together, the petrol engine and electric motors deliver a combined output of 191 brake horsepower (143kW) and 425Nm of torque. This enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in around eight seconds.
Intelligent hybrid system
The MG3 Hybrid+ operates using an intelligent series-parallel hybrid system that automatically selects the most efficient driving mode depending on road conditions and power demands.
The vehicle can switch seamlessly between pure electric drive, series hybrid mode and parallel hybrid mode to optimise fuel efficiency and performance.
Drivers can also select different driving modes, including Hybrid Mode, which balances power between the petrol and electric motors, and Fuel Priority Mode, which focuses on regenerating battery energy during driving.
Fuel efficiency and driving range
Designed with efficiency in mind, the MG3 Hybrid+ delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 4.4 litres per 100 kilometres under the WLTP cycle.
Combined with a 36-litre fuel tank, the vehicle offers a theoretical driving range of up to 800 kilometres on a full tank.
The hybrid system also allows for silent electric driving at speeds of up to 95km/h, enabling quiet and low-emission journeys through urban areas.
Comfort and technology
Inside, the MG3 Hybrid+ is designed to provide comfort and convenience for everyday driving.
The hatchback features a spacious cabin with ergonomically designed seating for driver and passengers, complemented by a large infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster.
Wireless connectivity and intuitive controls allow drivers to access navigation, entertainment and vehicle information with ease.
Hybrid system displays also provide real-time monitoring of energy usage and driving efficiency.
Safety features
Safety is supported by the MG Pilot suite of advanced driver assistance systems.
These include features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist, designed to enhance driver awareness and reduce the risk of accidents.
The vehicle is also equipped with multiple airbags and other safety technologies to provide comprehensive protection for occupants.
