Sixteen individuals were conferred with state decorations by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Thursday at the Istana Nurul Iman in conjunction with His Majesty’s 75th birthday.
His Majesty first bestowed His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen with The Most Exalted Order of Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang (First Class, DPKT), carrying the title “Dato Paduka Seri”.

HRH previously attended Basic Military Training at the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst and commissioned as a military officer.
HRH also completed a seven-month Elementary Flying Training at the Royal Air Force Cranwell in the United Kingdom in 2017 and was awarded the Royal Brunei Air Force Wings by His Majesty in 2018.
In May, HRH who is also a member of the Special Forces Regiment was granted the rank Substantive Major from His Majesty the Sultan in a promotion ceremony held at Bolkiah Garrison.
Moreover, several other high-ranking officials from the military and high court as well as prominent individuals from government and private organisations also received their decorations from the monarch.

The Most Gallant Order of Pahlawan Negara Brunei (First Class, PSPNB) which carries the title “Dato Seri Pahlawan” was conferred to three recipients namely; Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force Brigadier General Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bol Hassan; Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy First Admiral Spry Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji; and RBAF Joint Force Commander Brigadier General Haji Abdul Razak Haji Abd Kadir.

The Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei (Second Class, DSSUB) with the title “Dato Seri Setia” was conferred to only one recipient, Yang Arif Haji Johar Haji Muhammad, the judge of the Syariah High Court.

Meanwhile, The Most Distinguished Order of Paduka Seri Laila Jasa (Second Class, DSLJ) which carries the title “Dato Seri Laila Jasa” was conferred to Professor Dr Ooi Choon Jin, a gastroenterologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
Five recipients were granted with The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei (DPMB) carrying the title “Dato Paduka”.

His Majesty bestowed the order to Auditor General Haji Yusop Haji Mahmud; Deputy Permanent Secretary for Security, Enforcement and Law at the Prime Minister’s Office Haji Supian Haji Sabtu; Brunei Director of Research Haji Asmawee Haji Muhammad; Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau Mohd Zalani Haji Ismail; and Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Hajah Suhana Haji Sudin.
Furthermore, five other individuals were honour with The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei (SNB).

The recipients are Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure, Housing and Professional at the Ministry of Development Engineer Haji Amer Hishamuddin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria; Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Hajah Tutiaty Haji Abd Wahab; Permanent Secretary of Planning, Land Use and Environment at Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan Haji Abdul Razak; Endocrinology Consultant at Ministry of Health Dr Hajah Haslinda Haji Mohd Hassan; and Acting Director of Agriculture and AgriFood Hajah Masliana Yuliah Abdullah.
The prestigious ceremony concluded with a doa selamat read by State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Abdul Aziz Juned.
