His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Friday attended the Graduation Ceremony of All Arms Commando Course (AACC) and presentation of the “Green Beret” for His Royal Highness 920 Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, which was held at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM), Lympstone, Devon, United Kingdom.
Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Ceremony was Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah.
The arrival of His Majesty at the CTCRM Officers’ Mess was received with a Royal Salute, which was presented by the Guard of Honour King’s Squad and Buglar Royal Marines Band. His Majesty was greeted by His Royal Highness 920 Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; and welcomed by Lady Arran, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Devon; Colonel Simon Chapman OBE, Commandant CTCRM; Brigadier Graeme Jock Fraser, Commandant General of the Royal Marines; and W01 Billy Meldrum, Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM).
His Majesty then proceeded to the Achnacarry Room, Officer’s Mess, CTCRM, where Colonel Simon Chapman OBE, Commandant of the CTCRM, among other things, briefed on the background of the CTCRM as well as the All Arms Commando Course which was joined by His Royal Highness 920 Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen. His Majesty was then invited to the Eastney Room for a Luncheon.
His Majesty then proceeded to the Modern Urban Combat (MUC) building to witness the commando specialist military exercise which included Close Quarter Battle (CQB), Method of Entry (MOE) and Urban Climbing.
After the military exercise, His Majesty proceeded to the Falklands Hall to attend the Graduation Ceremony of AACC and presentation of the “Green Beret”, in which His Majesty was invited as the Guest of Honour to present the “Green Beret” to 46 participants who had successfully completed the course including His Royal Highness 920 Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
At the end of the ceremony, His Majesty joined the AACC participants, instructors, and members of the CTCRM for a group photograph session.
His Royal Highness 920 Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen had undergone the Royal Marine’s All Arms Commando Course at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM), Lympstone, Devon for thirteen (13) weeks from 20th September to 2nd December 2021.
CTCRM – which is the principal training centre for the Royal Marines – is a unique training centre that selects and trains all Royal Marines Officers, recruits and reserves as well as provides command training for all Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) and Royal Marines specialists.
