LX 600: The next chapter for Lexus’ flagship luxury SUV

The Lexus all-new LX 600 is a true luxury flagship SUV that combines reliability, durability, and remarkable off-road capability with handcrafted artistry and refinement.

The top-of-the-line SUV was officially announced in October last year and is currently being marketed internationally.

Lexus Asia in collaboration with Lexus International recently held a virtual workshop dedicated to the new-gen LX with the participation of a number of selected Asian journalists including Brunei to get to know the luxury SUV up-close and personal.

The all-new 2022 Lexus LX delivers a re-engineered body-on-frame platform and evolutionary and luxurious design changes — inside out.

Since the first LX model was launched in 1989, 500,000 units of the LX have been sold in more than 50 countries worldwide and approximately 3,000 units in more than 7 countries in Asia as of the end of October 2021.

The SUV has been well-received for its high-quality, ride comfort, and driving performance and is designed to rove the land in whatever terrain, regardless of conditions.

According to Lexus, the new generation LX was designed to provide the driver and passenger with exceptional comfort, while maintaining a traditional body-on frame structure to ensure reliability, durability and driving performance.

It represents the brand’s commitment to addressing the changing needs and lifestyles of its customers.

“To meet the diversified lifestyles of our customers, we established the new LX’s driving concept to be: “Ease and quality on any road in the world”.

We aimed to create a vehicle that, while possessing exceptional off-road performance, can be driven without hesitation on any road, whether in town, on the highway, or in a harsh environment, and that allows all occupants to travel in comfort,” said Lexus International Chief Engineer Takami Yokoo.

Nex-Gen Design: Inside Out

With “Dignified Sophistication” as the styling concept, the aim was to give the new LX high-quality, sophisticated proportions.

Its exterior allows the vehicle’s strength to be felt in a form that displays attention to detail, while its interior provides a sense of security and comfort to the vehicle’s occupants

Outside, the all-new Lexus LX is definitely a head-turner; based on the Lexus’ next-generation design language, which harmonizes functionality and elegance.

The SUV exudes the perfect blend of athleticism and accessible functionality and striking beauty. The design language incorporates modern detailing and smooth flowing lines. It is the perfect balance of beauty and the beast.

In front, the all-new LX makes a bold statement with its refreshed interpretation of Lexus’s signature spindle grille that features a three-dimensional shape and a frameless structure giving the SUV a more polarising look.

This striking front fascia is further emphasised by sharper headlights with integrated L-shaped daytime running light.

At the rear, the flagship SUV follows the design as seen on the 2022 NX, replacing its signature ‘L’ emblem with a clean and unified ‘LEXUS’ lettering on the tailgate.

The exterior of the LX wins on the first impression, but its premium interior is equally as stunning.

As you should expect from the Japanese automaker, the all-new LX comes with premium-feel materials throughout the cabin.

Inside, every component in the Lexus LX has been meticulously designed to deliver a more seamless and intuitive connection between the driver and car to help enhance concentration on driving.

Aside from high-quality materials, the new NX features the first Lexus Interface dual display with 12.3-inch display featuring navigation, audio controls and the Multi-Terrain Monitor and a lower 7-inch touch screen, for a more comfortable driving experience.

The all-new LX’s interior fully incorporates the Tazuna Concept, a cockpit concept that allows the driver to intuitively connect with the car and concentrate more on driving operations.

Moreover, the centre console and layout have a clean design and accessibility making it easier for the drivers to be connected and to be in control.

With generous dimensions for all passengers, it benefits from the highest level of technology aiming to ensure a modern and global approach of comfort which includes Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, a 10-speaker sound system and more.

Other features include the latest voice-recognition function that enables activation via voice commands by saying a predefined activation word, for example, “Hey Lexus!”.

The New GA-F platform

In terms of dimension, the latest Lexus LX rides on an all-new platform, the GA-F platform which serves as a strong foundation for its body-on-frame build.

The GA-F platform features a lower center of gravity with a weight reduction of approximately 200 kg when compared to its predecessor, and body rigidity is also increased.

Moreover, the new GA-F platform has been adopted in pursuit of on-road and off-road driving performance. The vehicle’s front/rear weight balance has been optimized by placing the engine further back.

The new LX also inherits the golden ratio of a 2,850 mm wheelbase, which has been inherited across generations and provides both high-level performances on rough terrain and a spacious interior.
