Lexus Brunei has debuted its all-new NX, a true luxury crossover that combines reliability and durability with handcrafted artistry and refinement.
Unveiled virtually by the Managing Director of NBT (Brunei), Hj Ahmad Omar Pehin Dato Hj Husin, the all-new NX is designed and engineered to mark the beginning of a new era of luxury.
The all-new NX has been re-designed and re-engineered to meet the diverse and evolving needs and lifestyles of today’s drivers and extends Lexus’ leadership in sustainable luxury.
The all-new 2022 Lexus NX delivers a long list of firsts, including an evolved design language along with the brand’s first plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The first NX was introduced in 2014, based on the concept of “Premium Urban Sports Gear.”
Since then, the luxury crossover has been well-received for its agile driving performance and sleek, distinctive design.
The 2022 NX is the first model to introduce the next generation of Lexus and is based on the development concept of “Vital x Tech Gear”.
This concept combines vital dynamism (Vital) with advanced technology (Tech).
It is equipped with innovative hybrid powertrains that help contribute to a carbon-neutral society while adapting advanced technologies and safety features.
“What you will see in this new NX is how engaged and connected you will be with your vehicle. You will experience our Lexus Driving Signature where you will sense a greater control when driving in the comfortably crafted cabin, developed from the TAZUNA concept,” said Hj Ahmad Omar.
He further shared that the all-new NX also provides advanced technology with a human-centered approach – providing leading class safety features and convenience in mind.
“Lexus has incorporated our brave design into the new NX and of course, our exceptional Omotenashi – delivering the best customer experience no other brand can duplicate,” he added.
Lexus will be offering three different powertrains in Brunei, including the sporty Lexus NX 350 F SPORT, and the Lexus NX 250.
A design that signifies the future: exterior and interior
The design of the all-new Lexus NX exudes the perfect blend of athleticism and luxury, captivating from every side with its dynamic framework that has been realised through an all-new vehicle platform.
According to Lexus, the design took inspiration from the LF-Z Electrified concept model that was unveiled in March.
The evolutionary design language incorporates sharper lines and creases – noticeably more sculpted than its predecessor.
In front, the all-new NX makes a bold statement with its refreshed and refined interpretation of Lexus’s signature spindle grille.
The new spindle design is made up of U-shaped blocks giving it that 3D appearance and depth. This striking front fascia is further emphasised by slimmer headlights with integrated L-shaped daytime running light.
At the rear, the Lexus NX is the first model to replace its signature ‘L’ emblem with a clean and unified ‘LEXUS’ lettering on the tailgate.
Moreover, the rear also features a new elongated light bar that runs across the width connecting the L-shaped tail lamps giving the NX a more futuristic look.
Inside, every component in the Lexus NX has been meticulously designed to deliver a more seamless and intuitive connection between the driver and car to help enhance concentration on driving.
The all-new NX’s interior is the first to fully incorporate the Tazuna Concept, a cockpit concept that allows the driver to intuitively connect with the car and concentrate more on driving operations.
Aside from easy-to-spot high-quality materials, the new NX displays a wraparound dashboard dominated by an intuitive 14-inch infotainment system.
Moreover, the layout of the entire screen is divided into display areas according to the granularity of the information, while the operation flow for navigation, music, and vehicle settings is unified for ease of use
The centre console and layout have a clean design and accessibility making it easier for the drivers to be connected and to be in control.
With generous dimensions for all passengers, it benefits from the highest level of technology aiming to ensure a modern and global approach of comfort which includes Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, a 10-speaker sound system and more.
Other features include the latest voice-recognition function that enables activation via voice commands by saying a pre-defined activation word, for example, “Hey Lexus!”.
A new platform
In terms of dimension, the latest Lexus NX rides on an all-new platform, the GA-K platform (TNGA-K) providing a bigger body and larger interior space.
Compared to the previous generation NX, the overall length has increased by 20 mm, the wheelbase by 30 mm, the width by 20 mm, and the height by 5 mm.
Not only that, the GA-K platform allows for the wider front (+35 mm) and rear tracks (+55 mm), which adds emphasis to the car’s powerful stance and accommodates larger diameter wheels and tires.
In terms of space, the latest platform offers more headroom, legroom and cargo space.
The GA-K platform features a lower center of gravity as well as improving the driving dynamics of the latest NX.
The F-Sport package
The 2022 Lexus NX also offers the optional F-Sport package that includes special 20-inch alloy wheels, a spoiler on the lower bumper, and front-side garnishes that deliver a sporty impression.
The sporty styling continues in the cabin with its newly developed dedicated steering wheel, the front seats, aluminum pedals, and shift lever have been exclusively designed to enhance the image of driving performance.
Also, the latest Active Variable Suspension (AVS) is equipped as a standard feature for the Sport trim and delivers a high level of handling and ride comfort.
*Under the hood and safety features*
Under the hood, the all-new NX features a newly developed 2.4-liter inline-four turbocharged engine, high-torque Direct Shift-8AT, and electronically controlled full-time AWD.
As part of Lexus’ commitment to pursue carbon neutrality, the engine features Lexus’ first center-injection direct-injection system and close placement of the turbocharger and catalyst.
When it comes to safety, the Japanese automaker is ahead of the game. The all-new NX comes with the evolved and comprehensive Lexus Safety System+ package setting a new benchmark for accident risk detection and prevention measures.
Notable safety features include Pre-Crash Safety, Radar Cruise Control (with All-Speed Follow function), Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist and Proactive Driving Assist and more.
One of the highlighted safety features includes the E-Latch System that replaces the latch and unlatches mechanism of the door with electrical control by switches delivers a smooth door operation and effortless feeling.
Combining its refined sporty good looks, strong performance and state-of-the-art technology, the Lexus NX is definitely a top contender in the luxury crossover segment.
