Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) under the 29th Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDP SGO) recently collaborated with local NGO, Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) to host a Community Outreach Project (COP) – Imtiyaz dubbed, “Bantuan Pelajar”.
According to the statement, the initiative explores non-conventional methods of obtaining donations and will be hosted through a local crowdfunding platform, Jana Kapital.
Jana Kapital was chosen for its innovative and shariah-compliant financial platform as well as being regulated by the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB).
The donation will also be funding the 2022 tuition fees of seven disadvantaged students selected from various government schools.
“With access to continuing education, these students can secure the livelihoods of their parents and family. And with stability, these students can find ways and means to be self-sufficient and self-sustaining to enable them to seize good opportunities in life,” they shared in a statement.
The campaign is aligned with Wawasan 2035 and in support of Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to achieving the 2030 Agenda for UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in providing inclusive education, particularly among the young students under the disadvantaged group.
