Brunei addresses concern on violence against Palestinians in Jerusalem

Brunei Darussalam expresses grave concern over the recent developments, carried out by the Israelis, targeting Palestinian civilians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a release issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the sultanate recalled the Joint Leaders Statement of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Malaysia on the escalation of violence by Israelis in the occupied Palestinian territory issued on 16 May 2021.

“We reiterate our condemnation in the strongest terms of the repeated blatant violations of the Palestinian’s human rights and dignity as well as the continuing deplorable actions by the Occupying Power that go against international law. We join the international community in calling on the Occupying Power to cease all forms of aggressions, atrocities and unfair practices against the Palestinians,” read the statement.

Brunei Darussalam will continue to support all efforts in finding a comprehensive and lasting peace on the basis of the two-state solution, continued MFA.

“We reiterate our solidarity with the Palestinian people, including their rights to self-determination and the creation of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” it concluded.
