Brunei recorded 342 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, announced the Minister of Health.
With this new development, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country increased to 149,679.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham Hj Jaafar also revealed that out of the total number of new cases, three were detected through rapid RT-PCR testing and 339 were detected through ART testing.
The number of new cases is the result of 223 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
Moreover, 301 individuals have recovered from the infection. To date, the country has recorded a total of 147,585 recoveries.
Currently, there are 1,871 active cases in the country.
It was also reported that 5 active cases are currently treated in hospitals. Whereas, a total of 1,866 positive cases are currently undergoing home self-isolation
One case under Category 4 has been admitted for close monitoring and requires the aid of oxygen assistance.
Moreover, there are no cases in Category 5 which are those who require treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
COVID-19 vaccination status
The minister also shared 81.7 per cent of children aged 5 to 11 years old have received their first vaccination.
“A total of 179 doses of vaccine were given to children aged 5 to 11 years,” he stated.
Whereas, a total of 1,025 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children aged 5 to 11 years old which brings the total second dose administered to children in this age group to 53.2 per cent.
Meanwhile, the coverage rate for the country’s citizens and residents who have received three doses of the vaccine is 70.9 per cent.
