CIPD talks about HR Global Trends with Human Resource Society Brunei

Some 40 Human Resource Society (HRS) members consisting of HR professionals from public and private sectors across the nation recently attended a learn and connect dialogue session presented by Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Asia.

The event kicked off with opening remarks by the President and Founder of HRS, Hajah Zainab M.A. Omar who is currently Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP) Human Resource (HR) Director and Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) HR in Country.

Then it was followed by an introduction to CIPD by the Business Development Manager of CIPD Asia, Lim Zuo Han, who expressed CIPD’s interest in collaborating with the existing HR society in Brunei to strengthen and advance the HR profession in the nation which is aligned to one of the objectives of CIPD.

The session then continued with a dialogue session titled “Global Trends Keeping HR Up at Night” led by the Regional Head of APAC (Assoc CIPD), May Leng Kwok.

The session focused on looking at macro level trends and external drivers, PESTLE factors, and how these impact businesses and consequently the HR professionals.

The dialogue revolved around how to manage change in technology advancement, practices that help sustain skills and capabilities of HR professionals whilst addressing contrasts and best practices between global and national practices to better prepare our people to be future-ready in today’s ever-changing environment.

The dialogue that took place post the presentation demonstrated the passion that HR professionals in Brunei have in wanting to continuously improve the services, and create positive impacts in their organisations and the nation whilst growing their capabilities toward best-in-class HR.

HRS was established on 5 June 2021, supported by BSP Social Investment in the effort to continuously develop the capability of HR professionals in Brunei.
