Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) recently organised a DigiBiz webinar on ‘Metatourism: A Tourist in the Metaverse World’ and was facilitated by Recap Sdn Bhd.
The first webinar in this second recurring series explored the impact of the ‘metaverse’, a highly immersive and interactive virtual world, on the tourism industry.
The webinar featured XR Specialist and Unity Certified Instructor with VRG-CMKL-KIDC Jeremy Luisier (Thailand) and CEO & Founder of Tiga Token Digital Pte. Ltd (Indonesia) Jimmi Saputra moderated by Director of Strategy and Innovation of AirAsia Academy (Malaysia) Dr Ram Gopal Raj.
The session began with an overview of augmented reality and virtual reality technology, and how they can be applied in the context of tourism.
A total of over 60 participants attended the webinar. Participants had the opportunity to interact with the speakers about customising solutions for consumers and exploring the opportunities provided by the metaverse.
They were also treated to a demonstration of 3D virtual content, which allowed ‘metaverse’ users to observe tourist attractions and services before arrival.
DigiBiz Talk aims to raise awareness of digital technologies and assist industry players, including MSMEs and new startup companies, in building a new incremental business in the area of focus.
The five-part recurring series will run until February 2023.
The next webinar, ‘Building Your City with 3D Printing Construction,’ will take place on 1 December 2022.
