HRS Brunei hosts workshop on leadership development

About 40 Human Resources Society (HRS) members consisting of HR professionals from public and private sectors across the nation, recently attended a workshop and connect session on the topic of The Path of Leadership Development.

It was the second workshop and connect edition following the topic of Organisational Effectiveness Essentials last September 2022 to provide tools to manage rapidly changing environments and its important relevance to HR.

The event kicked off with opening remarks by the President and Founder of HRS, Hajah Zainab MA Omar who is currently the Human Resources Director at Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP).

The workshop-style session, led by Melati Dato Paduka Haji Yusoff who is the Leadership Development & Functional Development Lead at BSP, provided an introduction to Leadership and explored how to establish a Leadership Development Strategy.

In the session, members were taught to understand the importance of Leadership Competence and the 70:20:10 Model; appreciate the difference between Leader, Boss and Manager and the mindsets of a good leader; explore tools in creating a leadership development strategy, and practice the application of the 70:20:10 approach in the context of your Leadership Journey.

The event closed with the presentation of certificates of appreciation by HRS President and Founder Hajah Zainab MA Omar to Melati Dato Paduka Haji Yusoff as main facilitator, and the event partner representative on behalf of Progresif – Hjh Nurul Haniah Hj Md Jaafar, Chief Executive Officer, and Yazdi Yahya, Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer.
