NBT Brunei is sponsoring two local youths to take part in the upcoming Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) Junior Open 2022 competition that will be held from 15 – 16 December in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Siblings Ak Muhammad Khair Zakwan and Ak Muhammad Zaidan will be competing in the ‘B’ Category U-15 and ‘C’ Category U-12, respectively.
They previously took part in the recent Sarawak Premier Cup of the 22nd Sarawak International Junior Golf Championship 2022.
During the competition, Ak Muhammad Khair who has a handicap of 19, was placed in Division ‘A’ with the 15-17-year-old competitors where he finished 12th out of 23 other participants at the international junior level.
Meanwhile, Ak Muhammad Zaidan with a handicap of 24, made it to the final and claimed the eighth position.
The brothers who started playing golf at the age of four have been practicing everyday for their Sabah game preparation since concluding their competition in Sarawak.
Ak Muhammad Khair aged 14 is a Year 9 student at Sports School and Ak Muhammad Zaidan aged 11 is in Year 5 at Sekolah Rendah Mentiri.
NBT in a statement said that the Toyota autodealer is pleased to assist talented Bruneian kids in sports.
For the duo’s part, Ak Muhammad Khair expressed their appreciation to NBT for sponsoring their trip to Sabah.
“We know the competition will be very tough, but we will both do our best,” he said. They will be accompanied by their father, Pg Hj Ahmad Zaki Al-Hakim.
