Calling all innovators! The Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2023 is now open for registration.
Introduced in 2004, BICTA is an annual ICT competition jointly organised by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) and InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB).
BICTA is also supported by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Education and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe).
With the theme “Smart Nation Through Digital Transformation”, the competition highlights the importance of innovation and development of new technologies to support digital transformation and to drive economic and social development for this country.

This year’s competition is open to ten categories for participation by individuals, students, businesses, government agencies and interested organizations. The categories and prizes for winners are as follows:

The BICTA 2023 will also present five Smart Nation Awards to a non-winning entry that has fulfilled Brunei’s Smart Nation vision of digital transformation for improved quality of life, public services, schools, safety, mobility of people and to achieve environment sustainability within the applications of the five specific sectors, namely Tourism, Agriculture, Construction, Logistics & Transport and Education.

The winners of BICTA 2023 will represent Brunei Darussalam in the APICTA 2023 which will be held at the end of this year in Hong Kong.
Since its participation in 2008, Brunei has won two APICTA awards and 29 merit awards.

Also included in BICTA 2023 activity is the BICTA Plus Bootcamp, a specialised training and mentoring program for BICTA participants to enhance their skills and abilities in various areas prior to competing.
Among the topics covered in this program include ideation and validation, business and financial planning, marketing strategy, pitching and presentation skills as well as design and thinking.
All primary, secondary and tertiary schools, as well as local individuals, SMEs, government agencies and organizational bodies having their own ICT products and services are encouraged to participate.
