His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will leave for Dubai, the United Arab Emirates to attend the World Climate Action Summit from 1 to 2 December 2023 during the 28th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28).
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is expected to attend the World Climate Action Summit, along with other Heads of State and Government.
The Summit – which also marks His Majesty’s first time attending the High-Level Segment of the COP – will welcome world leaders to present the progress and ambitions across all pillars of the Paris Agreement, providing momentum and guidance for the remainder of the COP.
As host of the COP 28, the United Arab Emirates will focus on four paradigm shifts namely: fast-tracking energy transition and slashing emissions before 2030; transforming climate finance, by delivering on old promises and setting the framework for a new deal on finance; putting nature, people, lives and livelihoods at the heart of climate action; and mobilising for the most inclusive COP.
