Three businesses issued compound for Price Control Act violation

Three businesses were issued compound in April and May for offences under the Price Control Act, Chapter 142.

Anika Tujuan Sdn Bhd, Gururam Sdn Bhd and NoorJumanah Department Store Two were fined $500 each for selling items exceeding the set maximum price and failing to display prices.

These were found during an inspection by the Department of Statistics and Economic Planning (DEPS) for businesses based in Kampong Kiulap, Kampong Mata-Mata and Kampong Mulaut.

The enforcement of the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 and its Regulations have also recorded the issuance of three warning notices to three retailers for the same offences under Section 3B and Section 5.

Businesses are advised to check and update prices, especially on price-controlled items and to always display price tags, enabling consumers to make informed purchase decisions. Ethical business conduct builds consumer trust and fosters a healthy business environment.

The public is encouraged to use the PenggunaBijak mobile application to lodge a complaint with supporting documents such as purchase receipts or to get more information on Price Control Act, Chapter 142.
