Come one, come all! AIA Brunei is set to host the AIA One Billion Run 2024 on 10 November 2024 at Jerudong Park.
Held in conjunction with Brunei’s 40th National Day, the charity run aims to raise awareness and funds for the Learning Ladders Society and the Society for the Management of Autism-Related Issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei.
Registration for the AIA One Billion Run 2024 will close on 18 October while donations will be accepted until 6 November.
In a press conference, AIA Brunei Country Manager Kenneth Ling said that the AIA One Billion global initiative reflects AIA’s ambition to engage one billion people to live healthier, longer and better lives by 2030.
He further said that AIA started this movement to enhance individuals’ health and wellness while striving for a more sustainable future in Asia.
“The initiative also underscores AIA’s commitment to engage, educate and inspire communities across Asia to improve physical, mental and environmental wellness while championing finance,” he said.
On her part, AIA Brunei Head of Distribution Cecilia Phan said that the registrations and donations for the event will be conducted digitally with online bank transfers as the initial mode of payment.
A payment gateway accepting all card payments is expected to be available in the coming week.
“We want to ensure that we adhere to our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices by reducing paper waste while making it convenient for participants to register or donate directly,” she said.
“The event will highlight the organisations that support and guide individuals living with autism and their families. We want them to be able to live comfortable lives and learn independence. We want to be a part of their success and invite the Brunei community to contribute,” she added.
At the press conference, representatives from the Learning Ladders Society, Hirman Haji Abu and SMARTER Brunei, Noorussa’adah Haji Abdul Rani shared their personal stories as parents of children with autism and their organisations’ missions as well as how the charity event can help support them.
