His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was at the Brunei International Airport on Tuesday, to welcome His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India who is in Brunei Darussalam for a two-day official visit.
The welcoming ceremony then began with the national anthems of both countries. His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Republic of India subsequently inspected the Guard of Honour that was mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
At the Ceremony, His Excellency was introduced to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health as Minister-in-Attendance; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development; Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office; Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd. Hanifah, Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office; Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Yang Mulia Mejar Jeneral Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; His Excellency Dato Paduka Haji Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awang Mohd Taha, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of India; Foreign Envoys in Brunei Darussalam; as well as Permanent Secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was then introduced to the official delegation of the Republic of India. Also present was His Excellency Alok Amitabh Dimri, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Brunei Darussalam.
The official visit was His Excellency’s first visit as the Prime Minister of the Republic of India to Brunei Darussalam. He began his third term as the Prime Minister of the Republic of India on 9 June 2024.
