Miftah An-Nur Islamic International School has signed an agreement with the Yunus Emre Institute of Türkiye to introduce Turkish language classes and programmes for students and the public.
This partnership marked a significant step toward enhancing academic, cultural, and social cooperation between the institutions.
The contract was inked between Deputy Chairman of Miftah An-Nur Haji Abu Bakar Haji Ibrahim and Turkish Cultural Centre Coordinator Lale Ersoy, representative of the Yunus Eme Institute.
Also present to witness the signing ceremony held at Miftah An-Nur campus were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Republic of Türkiye His Excellency Prof Dr Hamit Ersoy and Executive Principal of Miftah An-Nur Bilal Buttar.
Through the strategic partnership, students and the wider public will now have access to a diverse range of programmes, including calligraphy and Turkish language classes designed to deepen cultural connections and broaden learning horizons.
These enriching programmes will be offered as extracurricular activities for Miftah An-Nur students. At the same time, the wider Miftah community and the public can participate in specialised sessions that are set to expand academic, professional, and cultural perspectives.
In addition to language and artistic education, both institutions are committed to exploring further collaborations across educational, cultural, and social initiatives, enhancing the cultural bridge between Brunei and Türkiye.
In his speech, the ambassador said that the partnership is set to create an alternative atmosphere for teaching staff and students alike to further their
studies, to enrich and broaden their vision and to increase the quality of their education by exercising their learning experience in Turkish language classes, Turkish Islamic calligraphy, archery and Summer Camps at a later stage.
“Our collaboration with Miftah An-Nur is an opportunity to strengthen the bond between our countries through education and cultural appreciation. We look forward to sharing our heritage and providing students with new perspectives that will contribute to their personal and professional growth,” he said.
Prof Dr Hamit further said that with the assistance of YEE in Brunei, which is one of 66 centres in 62 countries, the Turkish embassy conducts the language course at Miftah An-Nur with YEE-Brunei language instructors, alongside language courses in other 11 institutions including all universities in Brunei.
“I am of the opinion that the Turkish language course will facilitate attendants access to the diverse and rich historical and cultural heritage of Türkiye,” he added.
On his part, Bilal Buttar expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership stating that the collaboration is a testament to the school’s mission of providing holistic learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom setting.
“We are excited to offer our students and community unique insights into Turkish culture and language, paving the way for greater academic and professional growth,” he said.
