BIBD kicks-off Mega Karnival, showcases local businesses

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) has kicked off its much-anticipated BIBD Mega Karnival at the Bridex Hall in Jerudong recently.

Held until 17 November from 10am to 10pm, the first-of-its-kind event aims to bring the community together, celebrate loyal customers, and support local businesses

Five days packed with an array of fun activities, designed to provide entertainment for visitors of all ages and the chance to win amazing prizes.

The carnival showcases over 300 booths featuring 100 vendors, offering a mix of food and beverage, lifestyle, home, travel, Back-to-School offers, wedding vendors, hobbyists, IT gadgets, car dealerships and many more.

It also features a range of free indoor and outdoor activities,including a petting zoo, cat adoption drive, fitness challenges, esports tournaments,carnival games and a free movie night under the stars featuring local movies and classic Malay movies, ensuring that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Not only that, but BIBD also organised three different campaigns exclusively running during the carnival period, where visitors have a chance to win prizes collectively worth B$300,000, including two brand new cars.

The campaigns include the Apply & Win campaign, involving BIBD products; the Transact & Win campaign, where customers earn chances to win through various digital banking transactions and product applications; and the Spend & Win campaign, where customers are rewarded on the spot for their digital transactions from as little as BND 0.10.

Visitors can participate by visiting the BIBD booth, engaging with the activities, and registering for the lucky draw during the event.

BIBD’s Managing Director and CEO Junaidi Haji Masri in his speech said that the BIBD Mega Karnival embodies our dedication to giving back to the community and showing appreciation for our customers’ unwavering support.

“We are proud to provide a platform for local businesses to showcase their products and services, fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the domestic economy. By encouraging our customers and the public to support local vendors, we aim to build a stronger and more resilient economy,” he said.

“Through this Karnival, we hope to bring joy and a sense of togetherness to everyone, while demonstrating our commitment to uplifting the community. We believe that the increased economic activity generated by this Karnival will create a positive ripple effect, benefitting small businesses and encouraging local spending, ultimately contributing to the growth and resilience of our domestic economy,” he added.

The BIBD Mega Karnival was launched by Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of BIBD Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Ahmaddin Haji Abdul Rahman.

Following the opening, the minister toured the various booths, including a visit to the BIBD booth, where he officially launched the Digital Komuniti program, a collaboration between BIBD and AITI, aimed at expanding digital literacy and promoting online safety awareness, particularly for vulnerable groups in the community.

The first session of Digital Komuniti will take place during the Karnival itself, targeting members of mukim and kampung consultative committees, with a focus on online safety and scam prevention.

While at the BIBD booth, the Chairman also experienced a range of interactive games and activities that were set up to engage the public in learning about cybersecurity and digital banking.

The activities, designed to be both informative and fun, aim to educate attendees on essential skills in the digital age, enhancing public awareness on topics such as online scams and the secure use of digital banking services.

The BIBD Mega Karnival is a celebration for the community, aimed at creating an enjoyable experience for all while fostering the values of togetherness, gratitude, and community empowerment. It is an important platform to not only give back to the community but also to connect and engage with customers and the wider public in meaningful ways.

Also present were BIBD senior management and staff, senior officials representing the Karnival’s strategic partners, BEDB, Royal Brunei Airlines, Mastercard, Imagine, Peak, and Kristal FM.
