Vibrant and stylish design
clean, sleek and futuristic in design, is the first impression of the BYD Dolphin
The Dolphin is the first C-segment hatchback model to embody the Ocean Aesthetics design philosophy.
Crafted under the leadership of BYD’s Global Design Director, Wolfgang Egger, its design draws inspiration from the ocean.
The Dolphin’s exterior balances aerodynamics and style, featuring smooth curves and a distinct front grille that exudes a sense of innovation.
With an unique and vibrant design that would attract the younger generation, the hatchback also comes in compelling selection of rich and vibrant colours: urban grey, maldive purple, coral pink and sand white
Once you step inside, the Dolphin exudes a relaxed and user-friendly package with a cabin that comfortably seats five passengers, where they can easily enjoy trips to any destination.
The hatchback’s interior is designed for maximum comfort and a less-distracting commute.
The internal door handles mimic the fins or flippers of a dolphin, and the circular air vents resemble drops of water, resulting in a lively and dynamic style.
Moreover, the futuristic suspended centre console design of the BYD Dolphin creates a modern, dynamic driving environment, with metal trim details running across the entire dashboard, forming a beautiful, minimalist curved surface.
Equipped with BYD’s intelligent cockpit system, the BYD Dolphin features a 12.8″ intelligent rotating touchscreen, offering Carplay System and voice control, allowing the user to drive without distraction while also adding intelligent entertainment to the experience.
The BYD Dolphin is the inaugural mass-produced model incorporating BYD’s ultra-safe Blade Battery.
Built on e-Platform 3.0, the short front and rear overhangs and long passenger compartments have a flat floor, giving middle-seat passengers more comfort and space.
When it comes to storage, it has a large trunk space that can easily store four standard 20-inch luggage compartments.
In addition, the seats can be split 60:40, allowing the 345-liter boot to be expanded to 1,310 liters when both seats are folded flat. Its 2700 mm wheelbase sets a new benchmark in spaciousness, significantly enhancing ride comfort.
Under the hood and safety features
The BYD Dolphin is powered by a single electric motor capable of generating 94 hp and 180 Nm of torque.
The electric motor is powered by BYD’s Blade Battery with a 44.9 kWh capacity allowing the Dolphin to reach a WLTP claimed range of up to 410 km.
Furthermore, the BYD Dolphin can reach a top speed of 130 km/h and can sprint from zero to 50 km in just 3.9 seconds.
Charging the Dolphin takes around 30 minutes from 30 percent to 80 percent using a 60 kW DC charger. Meanwhile, an AC charger takes eight hours to charge the Dolphin up from zero to 100 percent.
When it comes to safety functions the Dolphin has an array of innovation that keeps both drivers and passengers safe and well-protected.
The compact hatchback comes equipped with innovative and safety functions that offer the ultimate confidence and maximum comfort in all journeys.
