Shack Side: A youth-led fast-food venture with big plans

The local dining scene welcomes a new addition with the debut of Shack Side, a fast-food eatery serving signature burgers, crispy fried chicken and shakes.

Founded by youthpreneur Sheikh Said Mohamed Cassim and his business partners Chung Boon Hwa and Soon Kian Liang, the eatery opened its doors in Batu Satu with a bold vision – to be known for quality food and excellent service.

In his remarks, Sheikh Said said that the brand aims not only to be the best but also to make an impact on its team, customers and communities.

“Our mission reflects this. It is about fostering a happy working environment, serving fresh quality burgers and chicken that exceed expectations,” he said.

Decked in a white and yellow interior, the eatery showcases a cosy and vibrant ambience, accommodating up to 38 patrons at one time.

On the menu, there are a variety of items such as Shack Side Burger, Classic Side Burger, One Side Burger, Side Chick, Chicken Goujons, Side Wings and Grilled Cheese, among others.

For him, Shack Side is not just about food, but it is also about giving back to the community. The launch has provided new employment opportunities for local youths.

“To our Brunei community, thank you for welcoming us with open arms. Shack Side creates a space where people connect, laugh, and enjoy life,” said the youthpreneur.

As the brand establishes its roots locally, the team has its sights set on growth. The long-term plan is to franchise the brand and introduce Shack Side to the region with Malaysia as the first target.

“We’re working toward franchising Shack Side so more people can experience what we’ve built together,” shared Sheikh Said.

He added: “Everything we do is guided by our values: Professionalism, Reliability, Integrity, Enthusiasm, and Pride. These values will drive our growth and help us build a brand we can all be proud of.”

With its official opening, Shack Side brings more than just fast food to Brunei. It brings a vision of quality, community, and ambition. From creating jobs to planning for international growth, the brand is off to a strong start.

As Sheikh Said declared the eatery open, he shared his hopes for the future. “While today marks the beginning of Shack Side here in Brunei, we have an even bigger dream—to take Shack Side beyond these walls and into the world.”
