Behind the wheel of the D90
During the launch of the all-new Maxus D90 and Maxus T60 Max in Brunei Darussalam, The Bruneian team had the opportunity to experience the all-new Maxus D90 firsthand, taking it out from the Maxus Brunei Showroom for a real-world drive through familiar urban routes and tighter city roads.

The drive began at Sumbangsih Bahagia, heading towards Gadong, before continuing through Kiarong and surrounding junctions. This route, known for its mix of tight corners, traffic flow and uneven road conditions, provided a practical setting to evaluate the SUV’s handling and comfort.
Despite its large full-size SUV proportions, the Maxus D90 felt surprisingly composed on the road. Steering response was confident and well-weighted, allowing the driver to navigate through narrow stretches and roundabouts with ease.

Even during tighter turns along Kiarong and Jalan Gadong, the vehicle maintained stability with minimal body roll, reinforcing its planted and controlled driving character.
The suspension setup played a key role in absorbing road imperfections, delivering a smooth and comfortable ride even over less-than-ideal surfaces. This made the D90 feel more refined than expected for a vehicle of its size, especially in stop-start city driving conditions.
Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, the SUV delivered steady and consistent performance throughout the drive. Acceleration was smooth and predictable, making it suitable for both urban commuting and longer journeys.

The overall driving experience reflected a balance between comfort-oriented tuning and practical everyday usability.
Inside the cabin, the D90 further impressed with its quiet and spacious environment. Road noise was well controlled, allowing for a more relaxed driving experience even through busier roads. The seating position offered good visibility, which is particularly useful when manoeuvring a larger vehicle through tight urban areas.

Overall, the Maxus D90 demonstrated strong road manners for a full-size SUV, combining comfort, stability and ease of driving. Its performance through Brunei’s city roads highlighted its suitability for families and drivers looking for a spacious vehicle that remains manageable in everyday conditions.
