Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (DST) celebrated emerging talent and innovation at the DST Innovation Awards Ceremony for Catalyst Programme Cycle 4, with Team BumiTrust emerging as the top-performing team.
The ceremony, held at Level 12, Mutiara Exchange, marked the conclusion of six weeks of workshops, mentorship sessions and team collaborations designed to equip participants with practical exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship.
BumiTrust secured the top spot with its AI-powered agricultural solution designed to monitor soil conditions and certify produce safety, offering a technology-driven approach to improving farming practices and stakeholder confidence.
Also present was Radin Sufri Radin Basiuni, Chief Executive Officer of DST, alongside representatives from industry and academia.
In his welcoming remarks, Radin Sufri highlighted the significance of Catalyst Programme Cycle 4, emphasising the importance of providing students and graduates with opportunities to move beyond theory and apply innovation and entrepreneurship in addressing real-world challenges.
He also noted DST’s ongoing collaboration with UTB, with more than half of the participants representing the institution.
He also acknowledged participation from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology and Politeknik Brunei, which contributed to a diverse exchange of ideas throughout the programme.
“We are all here to support creativity and continue fostering resilience, ensuring that the next generation of innovators continues to shape Brunei Darussalam’s future,” he said.
A total of eight teams participated in Cycle 4, presenting ideas across sectors including agriculture, tourism, sustainability, healthcare, cultural preservation and digital platforms. Other participating teams were Nawaitu (SEEK), BruDeTour, Rehijau, Seroja (T*AP) and Halal4N.
The event was attended by Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei, as Guest of Honour, alongside representatives from industry and academia.
Hosted by DST InnoLab, the Catalyst Programme is part of DST’s corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and youth talent development in Brunei Darussalam.
