The First Steering Committee Meeting for Knowledge Convention 2021, in
conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 75th Birthday Celebration was held recently at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Knowledge Convention signifies the intellectual leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in particular His Majesty’s stature as an Islamic Leader who strongly emphasises the significance of knowledge for all levels of the society.
Since it was first held in 2004, the Knowledge Convention has highlighted
various themes including “Science and Technology, Catalyst for Development and Enhancing the Ummah’s Quality of Life”; “Agriculture Sector: Survivability of Race and Nation”; and “Islamic Manuscript the Landmark of Muslim Ummah Civilisation” through the Premier Forum, Premier Talk, seminars and exhibitions.
The First Steering Committee meeting this morning focused on the discussion on the theme proposal and its programs pertaining to the Knowledge Convention 2021 Celebration and other related matters.
The meeting was chaired by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Mokti Haji Mohd Daud, as Co-Chairperson of the Knowledge Convention 2021 Steering Committee.

Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz Juned, the State Mufti as Adviser of the Knowledge Convention 2021 Steering Committee; Minister of Home Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar Haji Apong; Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham Haji Jaafar; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin as Co-Chairpersons of the Knowledge Convention 2021 Steering Committee.
The Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Deputy Ministers of Finance and Economy as Deputy Co-Chairpersons; and Steering Committee members comprising the Deputy State Mufti, Rector, Ra’es, Vice-Chancellors, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, and relevant senior officers.
