PDS Abattoir, the largest meat the producer in Brunei, recently introduced its online retail store, allowing customers to directly place orders for their assorted range of beef products.
The government-linked company has set up their WhatsApp Business account where customers can browse through a catalogue of frozen products and make online payments via BIBD bank transfer.
General Manager of PDS Hj Sabirin Othman in an interview said that currently, the store does not cater walk-ins at its office in Jalan Gadong which now has turned into a storefront.
“For the moment, we take orders via our WhatsApp line at 8750032 due to the current transition phase and customers can collect here at our headquarters,” said Hj Sabirin, adding that the company is eyeing to integrate the ordering feature to a website.
Currently, the online store stocks processed meat products ranging from beef bones, minced beef, chopped beef, beef burgers to meat balls, priced between $2.50 and $11.
The general manager further said that the pandemic has led to disruption to the supply of fresh meat and livestock imports, noting the increasing demand in the local market.
He further said that before the second wave, customers would go to their farm in Kg Batang Mitus for direct purchase but due to the pandemic, walk-ins had to be put on hold to minimise the risk to its operations.

“The pandemic has changed our strategy and operations including doubling our delivery, ordering schedule, storage and plant capacity,” said Hj Sabirin, adding that the company plans to introduce more products in 2022.
PDS Abattoir opened a new feedlot facility in March, increasing its holding yard capacities from 800 heads of cattle to now 2,800 heads with breeds ranging from Angus to Brahman Cross.
With the upgraded facility, PDS shifted its operations from importing ready-to-slaughter cattle to the importation and fattening of feeder cattle after several months for slaughter and sale.
Prior to the opening, the company has rebranded in February with a new tagline “The Home of Good Beef”, a new logo and packaging that are meant to reflect its strong commitment to produce and deliver high-quality products.
