Craving for some French sweet meringue-based confection macarons? Local home-based patisserie L’amour Macaron has the perfect treat for you.
Choose from over 20 flavours starting with their best-selling Salted Caramel, the classics Belgian Chocolate, Vanilla and Pistachio and their own take of local favourite Onde-Onde – the must-haves.
L’amour Macaron journey started back in 2011 when owner Tina A had always loved challenging baking recipes and macarons are known to be one of the most challenging desserts to make.
After several experiments for the perfect recipe, the homegrown brand opened for business in 2013 and has gained positive reception since then.
Whether the sweet treats are for themselves or as gifts to family and friends, customers’ unwavering support to the humble business is heartwarming.
“From my first attempt, I fell in love with it especially with the feet (the ruffles along the base of the meringue shell). Fast forward and here I am, in charge of L’amour Macaron, a home-based patisserie specialising in producing macarons,” said the 28-year-old entrepreneur.
The name L’amour is the French word for love and the business is simply called the love for macarons which is fitting for the theme of the brand.
“We normally sell macarons in boxes of 12- and 8-pieces assortment where customers can select their flavours from our list which changes weekly. We also offer customised orders such as the Macaron Towers, for wedding hantaran and the 7-inch Giant Macaron also known as Macaron Cake,” she said.
Furthermore, the business utilises social media platform Instagram to market the products and WhatsApp to receive orders, making it easy and convenient to communicate directly with their customers.
Running the business for almost 10 years, Tina A sees that the COVID-19 pandemic did not greatly affect the business as customers are still very supportive of them, thanks for its quality products and services.
She added: “We are eyeing to introduce new macaron flavours and expand our menu in the future, perhaps serving tea or coffee that is fitting with the macarons and other exquisite desserts.”
For Tina A, venturing into a business is not something to be afraid of and she believes that when there is an idea, just do it, as it is something that people can observe and learn from along the way.
