Brunei recorded 362 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, announced the Minister of Health.
With this new development, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country increased to 137,947.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham Hj Jaafar also revealed that out of the total number of new cases, 27 were detected through rapid RT-PCR testing and 335 were detected through ART testing.
The number of new cases is the result of 910 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
Moreover, 577 individuals have recovered from the infection. To date, the country has recorded a total of 135,209 recoveries.
Currently, there are 2,524 active cases in the country.
It was also reported that 57 active cases are placed in isolation centres and hospitals. Whereas, a total of 2,467 positive cases are currently undergoing home self-isolation
Two cases under Category 4 have been admitted for close monitoring and require the aid of oxygen assistance.
Moreover, there are two cases categorised in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit.
COVID-19 vaccination status
“In regards to the country’s COVID-19 vaccination status, to date, 62.1 per cent of the nation’s population has received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said the minister.
The minister also shared 8.5% of children aged 5 to 11 years old have received their first vaccination.
“A total of 1,002 doses of vaccine were given to children aged 5 to 11 years old which brings the total number of vaccinations administered to 3,667 doses,” he stated.
