Brunei records 370 new cases, over 300 recoveries

Brunei recorded 370 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, announced the Minister of Health.

With this new development, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country increased to 152,320.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham Hj Jaafar also revealed that out of the total number of new cases, six were detected through rapid RT-PCR testing and 364 were detected through ART testing.

The number of new cases is the result of 359 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours.

Moreover, 321 individuals have recovered from the infection. To date, the country has recorded a total of 149,243 recoveries.

Currently, there are 2,852 c active cases in the country.

It was also reported that 14 active cases are currently treated in hospitals. Whereas, a total of 2,838 positive cases are currently undergoing home self-isolation

One case under Category 4 has been admitted for close monitoring and requires the aid of oxygen assistance.

Moreover, there are no cases in Category 5 which are those who require treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, one death associated with COVID-19 has been recorded in the past 24 hours and is not categorised as a death due to COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccination status

The minister also shared 83.2 per cent of children aged 5 to 11 years old have received their first vaccination.

“A total of 107 doses of vaccine were given to children aged 5 to 11 years,” he stated.

Whereas, a total of 908 second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children aged 5 to 11 years old which brings the total second dose administered to children in this age group to 65.0 per cent.

Meanwhile, the coverage rate for the country’s citizens and residents who have received three doses of the vaccine is 71.5 per cent.

Following the current situation of COVID-19 in the country, the Minister of Health announced that starting today, 13 June 2022, closure of the
Vaccination Centre at the Community Hall, Temburong District will be closed.

“The COVID-19 Vaccination Program for the residents of the Temburong District will be continued at the Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Hospital, Temburong starting Monday, 13 June 2022,” said the Minister.

Moreover, the public is advised to make their reservations in advance to get the COVID-19 vaccination at the aforementioned health facility during its operational hours: Monday – Thursday & Saturday, 08:15 am – 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm.
