Thinking of where to spend your Saturday night this weekend? Come and support our local entrepreneurs at ‘Saturday Night Pop Up’ at the Space by Boxr.
The event is hosted by RHB Bank Berhad under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative RHB Touch Hearts with the aim to promote volunteerism amongst the bank’s employees by giving back to the community through various CSR activities.
This year, the bank’s Brunei branch will be supporting some 15 vendors comprising small businesses in apparel brands, accessories, food and beverages as well as media and photography services.
The bank’s full sponsorship allows vendors to market their products and services to a wider audience during the one-day event.
A vendor from Mirai by BN, a local hijab and modest wear label, Siti Nur Bazilah Abdullah said that the business is very proud and honoured to be given the opportunity to join the pop-up event.
“We have gone through a rough time during the pandemic, and we believe that this event is a great chance at jump-starting our passion – an aid to get us back to track,” said the co-founder.
Another participating vendor, Riduan Sulaiman from Paperplane Media, a local media production company, said that the event gave them the opportunity to network and market their services to the public.
“It will help other businesses in this pop-up event as well to familiarise themselves with our services. Hopefully, we will get to work together with them after this event,” he said.
The Saturday Night Pop Up is slated to take place on 28 August from 4.30pm to 8.30pm at the Space by Boxr.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses, individuals and other vulnerable groups have been badly affected, said the bank in a statement.
In line with the theme for this year, ‘Making Progress Happen for Everyone’, the project was also aimed to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to grow and increase awareness of their products as well as to encourage these small businesses to flourish post-pandemic.
The theme reflects RHB’s new purpose statement ‘Together We Progress’.
Chief Executive Officer of RHB Brunei Operations Haji Ishak Othman in a statement said that this year’s RHB Touch Hearts initiative is slightly different compared to the previous editions.
“Understanding the economic recovery stage post-pandemic, our beneficiaries this year are MSMEs – some of whom were heavily affected by the pandemic,” he said.
The ceo also said that the #RHBTouchHearts is an RHB Banking Group initiative and for the 2022 edition, it is held simultaneously on 20 August 2022 involving 32 teams across six countries where the Group has a presence.
A total of 43 initiatives are being carried out focusing on education, the environment and supporting communities.
“Thus, we hope the event provides a positive impact on these businesses and rejuvenates the economic activities in the Sultanate either direct or indirectly,” said Haji Ishak.
