In a statement, the Royal Embassy shared that the Kingdom continues the process of comprehensive development and modernisation policies in all fields under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“The Kingdom is experiencing a qualitative renaissance despite regional and international challenges,” the statement added.
The Kingdom plays a key role in maintaining security and stability in the region; enjoys a regional, Arab, Islamic and international status while playing an active and influential role in international decision-making and its continuous pursuit of international peace and security.
The statement addded that Saudi Arabia is one of the largest donors to countries as it supports the world’s humanitarian and relief work with full awareness of the importance of alleviating human suffering while ensuring decent life for those who are vulnerable and needy.
Following this, Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors, His Royal Highness Mohammed Bin Salman, announced on 25 July 2022, the designs of THE LINE – a civilisational revolution that puts humans first, providing an unprecedented urban living experience while preserving the surrounding nature.
His Royal Highness launched the initial idea in January last year along with the vision of the city that redefines the concept of urban development and what cities of the future should look like.
According to the statement, the designs of THE LINE embody how urban communities will be in the future; in an environment free from roads, cars and emissions.
It is slated to run on 100 per cent renewable energy; prioritising people’s health and well-being over transportation and infrastructure as in traditional cities.
It will also focus on nature ahead of development while preserving 95 per cent of NEOM’s land.
“The announcement reveals the most important characteristics of THE LINE, which is only 200 meters wide, 170 kilometers long and 500 meters above sea level. THE LINE will eventually accommodate nine million residents and will be built on a footprint of 34 square kilometers, which is unheard of when compared to other cities of similar capacity,” added the statement.
This will reduce the infrastructure footprint and create never-before-seen efficiencies in city functions with an ideal climate all year round to ensure that residents can enjoy surrounding nature when traveling on foot.
Residents will also have access to all facilities in THE LINE within a five-minute walk, in addition to a high-speed rail with an end-to-end transit of 20 minutes.
Meanwhile the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s new concept of tomorrow, the NEOM City is an accelerator of human progress.
It comes with three regions: The Trojena; the mountain of Neom, The Oxagon; a blueprint for advances and clean industries, and The Line; new wonders of the world.
With this, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia proposed to host the EXPO 2030 in Riyadh 2030.
The event concluded with a tour of the exhibition showcasing books, posters, and artifacts of and from Saudi Arabia.
