By the command of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Chief of Adat Istiadat has announced the royal wedding of His Majesty’s daughter, HRH Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah to YAM Pengiran Muda Bahar.
The royal couple are set to marry on 12 January 2023 in the Majlis Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja followed by the Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja on 15 January 2023.
The week-long festivities will start off with the Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja on 8 January 2023.
Other ceremonies leading to and days after the solemnisation of marriage between HRH Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah and YAM Pengiran Muda Bahar include:
– Majlis Istiadat Menghantar Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja; Majlis Istiadat Menerima Tanda Diraja and Pertunangan Diraja on 10 January
– Majlis Istiadat Berbedak Pengantin Diraja on 11 January
– Majlis Istiadat Persantapan Diraja on 16 January
All citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam are required to hoist the national flag starting from the opening of Gendang Jaga-Jaga on 9 January until the closing of Gendang Jaga-Jaga on 17 January 2023.
The royal wedding announcement was made via the state broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) on Thursday evening.
