Some 47 individuals braved the needles at UBD Corp’s recent blood donation drive held in collaboration with Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Blood Bank.
The blood donation took place at The Core in Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) which was also supported by McDonald’s Brunei, local news agency The Bruneian, Phoenix Star and Milkstache Cafe.
The one-day event had a positive reception from students, officers and staff at the university as well as members of the public.

In an interview with The Bruneian, a donor Nurul Ashikin Hapni who is a staff member of UBD Corp wanted to give back to the community and help others by donating some of her blood.
“I am always keen to give my support whenever there is a blood donation drive, it makes me feel great to know that what I’m doing could save two or more lives, I want to be a part of a good cause,” said the 36-year-old.
Meanwhile, a student at UBD Nadiah Sallehkin said that she has been donating blood more than 10 times.
“The first time I donated was just for the experience, but then I had the chance to learn about the benefits and good of donating. Not only is it good for my health, but it can also help others,” said the 24-year-old.

As for another repeat donor, 28-year-old Adi Ameza shared that the reason she wanted to contribute to the drive was to follow in her father’s footsteps.
“It is my fourth time donating, I feel happy whenever I donate as I am doing this for a good cause and my father inspired me to keep donating as he also donates when he has the chance and he was recognised for that, so I want to help people just like he did,” said the UBD alumni.
The blood drive encourages the staff as well as students and members of the public to help a good cause and increase the blood supply in the country.
UBD Corp is grateful to have organised the blood drive and contributed to the blood bank in Brunei.
