The future of electrified driving with X-Trail

The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail has the smoothness of an EV but does not require hours of charging.

The Nissan X-Trail e-Power technology is a petrol-powered EV system that offers a unique blend of electric and gasoline.

The electric motor drives the wheels directly, providing instant torque and a smooth driving experience similar to electric vehicles.

The new X-Trail is equipped with innovative technologies that offer greater safety, convenience and comfort.

This is inclusive of Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of features, which combines three pillars of Intelligent Driving, Intelligent Power and Intelligent Integration for a safer and more connected experience behind the wheels.

The SUV is also powered with e-4orce which is a unique electric AWD technology that offers the perfect balance between power and control.

With the presence of two electric motors (front and rear), it ensures perfect weight distribution and optimum torque distribution. It grips even more and is even stable in handling. And that makes the driving experience exciting just like EV.

This striking appearance is further emphasised by its dominating V-Motion grille and sleek and distinctive headlights giving the X-Trail a more bolder and premium look.

The Japanese brand has put the emphasis on comfort at every stage; the seats are softly and smartly contoured, offering good support and cushioning.

Inside, every component in the crossover has been meticulously designed to deliver a more seamless and intuitive connection between the driver and car to help enhance concentration on driving.

A notable highlight is the minimalist central control design that features an intuitive, easy-to-use 12.3-inch intuitive touch-screen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that enables full, seamless smartphone integration compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.

The cabin also instantly gives an impression of spaciousness, with a height position that gives the feeling of dominating the road, as well as a central console and high-quality materials.

Moreover, the cabin was also exceptionally quiet and tranquil with the muted road, wind, and traffic noise.

Safety and Performance

When it comes to safety and technology, the new X-Trail has a wealth of innovation that provides every passenger with peace of mind.

The 7-seater comes with ANCAP’s maximum five-star safety rating equipped with innovative and safety functions which offer the ultimate confidence and maximum comfort in all journeys.

Equipped with various advanced safety features such as Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection, Forward Emergency Braking and Collision Warning, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

One of their highlighted safety features is the 360 Around View Monitor that gives drivers a virtual 360° bird’s eye view of your vehicle to bring your parking space and maneuvering capabilities into full perspective.

The SUV also has the e-Pedal which allows drivers to accelerate and brake using only the accelerator.

The technology helps to hold pressure on the brake for a few seconds, providing enough time for the driver to switch from the brake pedal to the accelerator.

In terms of performance, the new Nissan X-Trail is powered with a 1.5L 3-cylinder KR15 VC-turbo engine with fuel efficiency of 18.3KM/L.

On the road with the Nissan X-Trail

On the road from Tarindak Pantai Cafe in Jerudong, the X-Trail demonstrated immense poise in five different driving modes – Off-Road, Snow, Auto, Eco, Sports

Driving on a range of roads from highways to the curves of Jerudong, the X-Trail feels smooth and serene when cruising.

The e-POWER gives you the same high-performance driving experience as an all-electric car.

The X-Trail’s 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine acts purely as an electricity generator.

When driving, the X-Trail drives more like an EV, especially during low speeds, but at higher speeds, the petrol engine acts as an inverter, powering the wheels in a way that feels smoother and refined.

The fourth-gen also remains confident and full of grip, at higher speeds and no matter how aggressive you drive.

Eco was our mode of choice for driving around Jerudong Park as it lightened the steering wheel’s resistance and softened the suspension, giving the drive extra cushion during rush hour.

Its smooth-shifting transmission makes it very easy and relaxing to drive and it is a truly versatile performer in stop-start traffic.

Also, transitioning from normal mode to sport mode proved its dynamic ability to make the most of the roads.

Further into our drive, the 7-seater has a great cornering grip and balance, encouraging us to do more rolls along Jerudong Park. The steering is precise and gives the kind of feedback you want from a premium SUV.

Adding to its drivability, the X-Trail has integrated a soft suspension setup, which reduces that see-sawing effect when going over speed bumps.

Overall, a comfortable ride, all around, even driving on the back roads of Jerudong where the roads had more speed bumps and potholes.

We were also impressed with the wide range of technology and safety features available inside the Nissan X-Trail and it was a great help and certainly made our driving easier and safer.

Moreover, the cabin was also remarkably quiet and tranquil with the muted road, wind, and traffic noise.

All and all, combining the cutting-edge e-Power tech and premium comfort interior, the Nissan X-Trail is the ultimate electrified crossover that guarantees sophistication, comfort, and outstanding performance.
