Vietnamese community gathers for Tet Holiday celebration

The Embassy of Vietnam recently hosted some 150 Vietnamese residing in Brunei to celebrate the Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year (Tet Holiday).

Ambassador of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam in his remarks said that the developments of the bilateral comprehensive partnership between the two countries in 2023, highlighting the outcomes of the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Brunei in February helped define several prioritised areas of cooperation, including energy, halal, tourism, and people to people exchanges.

Tran Anh Vu also affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Brunei has played an important role in fostering people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The envoy highlighted positive results achieved by the Vietnamese business community, which helped promote trade and investment ties between Vietnam and the sultanate.

He added that more Vietnamese companies are doing business in the country including Petroleum Vietnam Drilling (PVD) which has been providing drilling services for Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) since January 2022.

Recently, PVD’s TAD – PV DRILLING V oil rig was recognised as “Rig of the Year 2023” by Shell Global and awarded HSSE Excellence on One Year Goal Zero by BSP.

Guests were offered authentic Vietnamese dishes and enjoyed music performances by the Vietnamese community and a Bruneian singer.
