A keynote by May Leng Kwok, Chartered FCIPD, Head of Market Development – Global and Interim Market Director, Asia, CIPD, titled “Navigating ASEAN’s Skills Terrain – Bridging Gaps” explored how Brunei and other ASEAN nations are tackling skill shortages and mismatches in alignment with regional goals like Wawasan 2035.

The keynote gave practical insights into the impact on organisations and suggested actionable strategies to address these challenges.

May Leng emphasised the crucial role HR practitioners play in this journey and the specific skills they need to stay relevant.

The keynote was then followed by a fireside chat between May Leng Kwok and HRS Vice President Marzalenie Hj Omar with members of Human Resources Society (HRS) Brunei to support the vision of developing Brunei’s HR competitiveness even further.

The event closed with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation by HRS Founder and President Hajah Zainab MA Omar to May Leng Kwok.

Following the event, HRS will be holding the Annual General Meeting 2024 this Saturday, March 2024 and are inviting members to be informed on HRS annual activities and join in Executive Committee elections.

The public, particularly the HR community and managers, is invited to join the society and follow HRS activities – as the first HR society in Brunei to build HR competitiveness – on social media on LinkedIn and Instagram.
