MTIC: No appointment of companies, official discussions on Trans-Borneo Railway

Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) in a statement announced that the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has never offered or appointed any local or foreign company to undertake the Trans-Borneo Railway project.

This is following the spread of information over mass media and social media platforms including in neighbouring countries.

The ministry in a statement said that there have been no official discussions at the governmental level regarding the matter, including among the states and relevant stakeholders.

“For a project of such scale, it would undoubtedly require the commitment from each respective government first,” said MTIC.

MTIC also reminds the importance of exercising caution in drawing conclusions, scrutinising, and verifying any information received.

This is vital to avoid any misunderstandings and maintaining the stability and harmony of society and the nation.
